At first I went small and it worked as expected.... then I put it to a rigorous marathon! I ground approx. 60 lbs of venison in 4 pound batches with about 3 minutes between batches... I cleaned the meat of fat and sinew. cut into 1x1 inch cubes and started feeding the beast. this little machine handled it all just fine! Clean up is a slight hassle, with the feed throat only 1.75 inches. ((used a baby bottle brush)) and oiled it up before I put it away. well worth the money, as long as you aren't lazy and actually put in the time to clean and cut your meats.
