To Ensure You Select the Perfect Washer & Dryer Set:

Walk the Delivery Path:Measure any doorways, hallways, stairways, and areas where there may be a tight fit along the path you'll need to bring your new appliances through on delivery day. This step will ensure you don't have any trouble getting your new appliances to their installation location.

Determine How You'll Set Up Your Set:Decide how you'll position your washer and dryer (side-by-side, stack them on top of each other, raise them with pedestals, etc.). You'll need to consider this when measuring your space. You'll also need to consider the functionality of your future machine. Front loading washers/dryers will require extra room in the front (at least 20 inches) to open the doors while top loading models will need extra space above.

Measure Your Installation Space:First, measure the height from the floor to the bottom of any overhead cabinets or ceilings. Next, measure the depth of the space. When measuring depth, remember you'll need at least 6 inches of space behind your machines for hookup and breathing room. Finish up by measuring the width. You'll need at least 1 inch of space on each side of your appliances for breathing room.

Check the Fuel Type & Water Line:For electric dryers, you'll need a 240V hookup within the range of the appliance. For gas, you'll need a standard electrical outlet and natural gas shut-off valve with a metal connection directly behind where you'd install the dryer. For your washing machine, you'll need an electrical outlet within reach of the power cord and a water shut-off valve located on the same floor, within 4 feet of where you’ll install the washer.
