Coil Coating

The METAL TRADE COMAX coil-coating line for the coating of coiled aluminium and galvanized sheet metal is one of the first continuous coil-coating lines in Europe and the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic. The line is a top-class piece of technological equipment, guaranteeing both high quality products and environmentally friendly operations.

The production process of continuous coil coating starts with a chemical treatment of the input strip, which removes anticorrosive oils and dust impurities by multistep rinsing. A non-chromatic passive layer, securing a good adhesion of the coating, is applied to the cleaned surface. After the passive layer dries, a system of cylinders applies polyester, polyurethane or PVDF coatings to the strip. After the application of the coating, the strip is baked in ovens at a temperature of up to 240°C. In addition to being supplied ready-made coatings by top-class manufacturers, METAL TRADE COMAX operates two own toning lines for PES and PUR colours. In the laboratory, our experts mix up to 550 color shades.

In continuous operation, the Velvary coil-coating line can coat up to 150 tons of sheet metal per day. METAL TRADE COMAX coats more than 10,000 tons of aluminium and 47,000 tons of galvanized coils per year. The annual production capacity of the coil coating line is 60,000 tons of painted coils.

Besides applying organic coatings, the METAL TRADE COMAX coil-coating line can also apply polyethylene or PVC films. Both coated and laminated sheet metal shows high UV-radiation resistance, corrosion resistance and chemical resistance. These parameters are all subject to laboratory testing.

The coated aluminium and galvanized sheet metal is widely used in the construction industry – it is used, for instance, in the manufacturing of facade panels, roofing, tinsmithing components, blinds or garage doors. The aim of the coil-coating line’s business team is to strengthen export. The coil-coating line with a hundred employees currently exports its products to 28 countries worldwide.
